- 500g boneless chicken cut into cubes
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tomatoes finely chopped
- 1 Onion finely sliced
- 2 green chilies sliced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1 inch piece of ginger grated
- 1 tbsp cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1/2 tbsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tbsp red chili powder
- 2 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tbsp butter or ghee
- 1/4 cup fresh coriander leaves chopped
- Fresh ginger slices for garnish
- Salt to taste
In a bowl, marinate the chicken cubes with yogurt, minced garlic, grated ginger, and a pinch of salt. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
Add sliced onions and cook until they turn golden brown.
Add chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cook until the tomatoes are softened.
Now add the marinated chicken along with all the marinade. Cook until the chicken is tender and the yogurt mixture is well incorporated, stirring occasionally.
Add coriander powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to taste. Mix well.
Cook for another 5-7 minutes until the gravy thickens.
Finally, add butter or ghee and chopped coriander leaves. Stir well.
Garnish with fresh ginger slices before serving.
